Holidays
on the Burns Farm
Winter brings fur coats and long sleeves to the Burns Farm.

Our farm is located about 30 miles south of San Antonio, TX on the Chacon Creek. We have been raising miniature and standard sized donkeys for more than ten years. Our love for donkeys started when we purchased Bell, our first guard donkey. We were experiencing problems with coyotes and stray dogs killing our sheep and goats. After hearing that donkeys, who live with a herd, will protect them, Bell came to live with us.
Soon, we no longer had problems losing livestock, and we discovered that we loved the donkeys more than anything else. Currently, we have quite a collection of donkeys. Although we started with standard sized donkeys, now our love for miniature donkeys has become a family business. David, our son, has started his own collection of miniature donkeys, which live on Union Hill Road in Mineral Wells, Texas. Brenda, our daughter, works with this Web site and helps take care of the animals. Zoe and Mia, our granddaughters who live on the farm, make sure that each donkey gets a lot of tender love and care.
The last fews months, we have had some wonderful surprises on the farm. Our latest addition came the day after Thanksgiving.
Tinkerbell delivered the most colorful and beautiful spotted donkey yet, and we are still working on a perfect name. All the granddaughters want to name her Bella.

At one day old, this baby girl has lots of energy and a sassy attitude.

On Sept 2, one of our farm favorites, Snowflake, had her first baby. Baby Smokey is a dynamic and chrismatic little one, and already belongs to our friend Harla.

We always enjoy a visit from our Colorado relatives.

To start 2011, we had 3 baby paints on the farm. Chaps, Spirit and Levi have lots of fuzz and spots.

This summer, we have some new family members including Grasshopper, Poka-dot, Snickers, and Princess Kate. Below is a picture of Baby Grasshopper as she is being carried up from the creek bottom. Baby Pokadot was born down by the wild grape vines.

Valentine came to us in February 2011 and we were in love with her beautiful spots, ears, and eyes.

For Easter 2010, one of our favorite standard sized donkey gave us a beautiful jenny. Baby Miss Scarlet who is a bundle of spunk now lives in Floresville with our new friend, Harla. Harla has 3 farm favorites living on her ranch: Stevie Ray, Stewart, and Scarlet.

On April 7, 2010 Baby Bambi was born. Check out those ears!

In the Fall, the Three Amigos arrived on the Farm. We had three little miniature jacks born within a two weeks and they all have dark color and dynamic personalities.
The boys are Banana Split, Double Trouble, and Cato.

Stop by to visit us sometime. We love to show off all of our donkeys.
There is always a donkey ready to greet you on the Burns Farm.
